The stage is set and battle lines are drawn for the knockout phase (Play-Offs)  of Sixth Workers’ Cup, to be played on Friday, 23rd February.

Sixteen of the total 32 teams, the top two from each of the eight groups, advanced from the group stage, that witnessed 48 matches over three weeks. Many of the games were fought keenly.

The Play-Offs fixtures are Shapoorji Pallonji vs Spartan Ready Mix (Al Duhail Stadium, 08:00), Doha Pest Control vs Trags Engineering ((Al Duhail Stadium, 08:00), AG Middle East vs Medgulf (Al Sadd Stadium, 08:00), Al Asmakh F.M. vs NAAAS (Al Sadd Stadium, 08:00), Taleb Group vs Gulf Contracting (Al Duhail Stadium, 09.30), ALYSJ vs L&T Qatar (Al Duhail Stadium, 09.30), AALCO vs G4S Qatar (Al Sadd Stadium, 09:30) and Nakheel vs Mowasalat (Al Sadd Stadium, 09:30).

Shapoorji Pallonji and Gulf Contracting advanced from Group A in that order, Taleb Group and Spartan Ready Mix from Group B, Doha Pest Control and L&T Qatar from Group C, ALYSJ and Trags Engineering from Group D, AG Middle East and G4S Qatar from Group E, AALCO and Medgulf from Group F, Al Asmakh F.M. and Mowasalat from Group G, and defending champions Nakheel and NAAAS from Group H. 

Shapoorji Pallonji, Taleb Group, Doha Pest Control, ALYSJ and Nakheel progressed with an all-win record from the group stage, that witnessed 301 goals in all (78 in Week 1, 108 in Week 2, 115 in Week 3).

The annual football tournament, organised by the Qatar Stars League and sponsored by Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, this year saw more than 640 players take part. It started at the Al Duhail Stadium on Friday, 2nd February.

Matches are played on Fridays and the final is scheduled for 23rd March. Entry is free for the public.

The tournament’s main objective is to promote a culture of sport and healthy lifestyle in the community of migrant workers engaged in various projects across the State of Qatar, especially those related to the infrastructure of 2022 FIFA World Cup.
