Al Shahania go head to head against Al Khor in round twelve of the QSL season. The match will take place at the Al Arabi stadium on Friday evening. Al Shahania are having a mixed run of form and are currently tenth in the table with eleven points from as many games. The Oryxes will be looking for the win against a struggling Al Khor.

Jose Fernando, the head coach of Al Shahania is expecting a tough encounter, “I expect a big game because Al Khor is a good team with young players and good quality. Both teams are more or less on the same level and I look forward to a big game.”

“One goal gets confidence for the team. Until the last minute I ask my players to focus on the game and concentrate and if you do that every time you will get the result. Al Khor will put a heavy charge in this game because they need points. But Shahaniya are prepared for this,” added the Portuguese tactician.

Speaking about his team’s lack of experience in the QSL compared to Al Khor, Fernando added, “This moment I don’t talk about the experience. You can talk about luck. We had big opportunities to win the last game against Al Ahli. But I have asked my players to continue working hard maybe luck will go our way against Al Khor.”

Al Khor is currently in the drop zone and are struggling to find form as they lost their last five games. The Knights will be looking to turn their season around against a newly promoted side.

Jean Fernandez, the head coach of Al Khor is concerned about the number of injuries in his side, “In all the matches we prepare ourselves to win but sometimes it’s difficult. We have some key players missing so it becomes much more difficult. The last game against Al Arabi we prepared to win. We have a big number of injuries but my philosophy dictates that I go into each match looking to win.”

Speaking about the solution to his team’s poor form, Fernandez added, “The only solution is to continue to work and try to come back in order to progress. In the competition, you have a good dynamic and sometimes the dynamic falls down and the result becomes bad for you. We will try to seek the appropriate substitutes to replace the key players and most probably we will use the same players we used against Al Arabi.”

“The league is very long. If you win two matches you get six points that help you a lot moving forward. Shahania  is playing to stay and so are we. I don’t think we are in danger of relegation,” added the Frenchman at the press conference on Wednesday.
