Bottim of the table Al Kharaitiyat are set to take on fellow strugglers Muaither on Saturday head coach Ahmad Al-Ajlani gave his thoughts to the media ahead of the tie.
Opening up the press conference Al-Ajlani stressed the importance of the relegation scrap set to take place at Al Khor stadium. “It will be a crucial game against Muaither, and the aim is to get three points. We are desperately in need of a win to back up the good performances that we have been offering in recent weeks. This will help the confidence of the squad.
“Muaither are doing a good job in the league, but after the injury of Dioko their results have slowed down. We are similar sides in many ways.” noted the Tunisian coach at the Thursday morning press conference.
Last time out the Thunders narrowly lost 2-1 to Lekhwiya due to a contrveral call by the referee. Al-Ajlani hopes his team can make up for those lost points against the newly promoted side. “We lost three points against Lekhiwya, it was cruel to concede a penalty in that way. I know that officials make mistakes, I hope that we can make it up in the next games.”
Ending the press conference Al-Ajlani stated that his side has the spirit to beat the drop. “I have been in many similar situations during my coaching career, it only matters who is bottom at the end of the season. I believe in the team, and they have the confidence to get out of this the season still has many games to play.”
As for Muaither they have been on a wretched run in the QSL at the moment losing their last four games. The newly promoted side have struggled without star striker Alain Dioko and will be aiming for a win against bottom of the table Al Kharaitiyat. French coach Phillipe Birol spoke with the media ahead of the match.
Opening up the press conference Birol stressed that this is a must win for his team.“It’s a important game against Al Kharaitiyat because we are needed to keep away from the bottom side in the league. We are very concentrated and prepared for the game.”
Last time out Muaither narrowly lost 2-1 to league leaders El Jaish despite the defeat Birol drew plenty of posatives from the tie. “Za’tara and Ouadrassi played well against El Jaish and we have tried to find a solution to cover for Dioko at the moment. We will need them to play well again and score against Al Kharaitiyat.”
Birol ended his press conference talking up his sides early season achievements. “We knew that Muaither is the favourite to go down. In our games we have played well, and our defeats have been by close margins. I am positive with my players, the league is not finished yet the whole club is together in this we have shown we can do well and we have the ability to avoid relegation and stay in the Qatar Stars League.”
