QSL side Al Gharafa is set to complete the signing of Venezuelan defender Rubert Quijada from Caracas FC. The club confirmed that the central defender had arrived in Doha ahead of agreeing personal terms with the Cheetahs, and is expected to be formally unveiled in the coming days.

Twenty eight year old Quijada is expected to be the replacement for Ghanian defender Rashid Sumaila who played for Al Gharafa last season on loan from Qadsia SC in Kuwait. The defender will then join up with his new team-mates for preseason training as Al Gharafa look to start the new QSL season in the best possible form.

It’s been a busy summer so far for Al Gharafa, who will be trained by French coach Jean Fernandez this season. Earlier in the month the club announced the signing of four local players in the form of Abdulmajeed Enad and Ahmed Alaaeldin of Al Rayyan along with back Yusef Muftah and central midfielder Khalid Abdulraouf who formally used to play for El Jaish.
