
Ahead of the new QSL season 2017/2018, we take a look at five youngsters who will be looking to make a mark for themselves and their teams.
Fahad Al Abdulrahman – Al Sadd
The 22-year-old Qatari left-back moves back to Al Sadd, the club where it all started for him, after ending his loan with Belgian side KAS Eupen.
The promising youngster has made 26 appearances in total for the Jupiler Pro League side and is also a regular for the Qatar U23 team. He is expected to be a like for like replacement for left back Abdelkarim Hassan, who recently moved to KAS Eupen on loan.
It will be interesting to see how Al Abdulrahman can make this new role his own next season as he has big shoes to fill.
Yousef Hassan – Al Gharafa
The first-choice keeper for Al Gharafa as well as the Qatar U23 team, Yousef Hassan made a huge splash last season with his excellent goal keeping performances and was deservedly nominated for a QFA Award for Best U23 Player.
The 21-year-old shot stopper’s game is characterised by lightning quick reflexes and pin point distribution. These attributes made him a regular for the Cheetah’s last season and helped them finish in an admirable fifth place in the league.
Now under the guidance of new head coach Jean Fernandez, it remains to be seen if the youngster can replicate or improve on his performance from last season.
Almoez Ali – Al Duhail
Lekhwiya attacker Almoez Ali won the best U23 player award at the 2017 QFA awards as he capped off a remarkable season with a QSL winners medal. Utilized on the wing, or even in a striking role Ali has made a big impact for the champions scoring 8 goals, and providing 8 assists for his team-mates last season.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a fine 2016/2017 season having been called up for the Qatar national team on a number of occasions for their Russia 2018 qualification campaign. Now playing for QSL’s newest team, Al Duhail, the youngster will want to stake a claim for a regular spot in the starting line-up.
Hilal Mohammed – Al Khor
The 22-year-old Qatari striker has moved from Umm Salal to Al Khor and will be donning the number 10 shirt for the Knights next season. Mohammed is no stranger to the Al Khor set-up having previously played for them two season ago.
The young attacker will be hoping that he will be able to make a telling contribution to the side, who finished in eleventh place last season. While playing for Umm Salal in the last term, the young prospect scored four goal in twenty games helping his side to a sixth placed finish.
Mohammed Alaaeldin – Al Rayyan
Another young player to look out for would be Mohammed Alaaeldin, the 23-year-old right back is an Al Rayyan player through and through as he started out his career with them back in 2012. He will be looking to cement his position in the starting lineup come the new QSL season.
The Qatari U23 national team player made fourteen appearances for the Lions in the QSL last season and provided some solid performances at the back as he helped his team finish in third place. Alaaeldin was part of the Al Rayyan team which won the 2015/2016 QSL title and he will be aching to get his hands back on the trophy again.
