The games are coming thick and fast as the first half of the QSL season is reaching its climax. Round eleven of the QSL season saw headline grabbing score lines and similar shocking results. At QSL online, we look over the moments that matter in our regular talking points feature.

Al Sadd underlined their title credentials with a comprehensive 8-0 win over Umm Salal last night, pushing into second place and piling plenty of pressure on league leaders El Jaish.  Jesaldo Ferriera’s side where at their free flowing best in a game which saw three assists for Xavi and another brace from the league leadings scorer Bagdad Bounjah.

It’s been a fine December for Al Sadd on the goal scoring front, with the Wolves racking up fifteen goals from their three games in December so far. Qatar’s most successful side is currently on a four game winning streak, and remains unbeaten in the league this season. Ferriera will be hoping for more of the same against Al Sailiya next time out.

Al Sailiya arguably put in the performance of the round in defeating Al Gharafa 2-1 on Sunday evening at Al Ahli stadium. Sami Trabelsi’s boys stopped Al Gharafa’s five game winning streak thanks goals from returning hero Faouzi Aaish and young attacker Mohammed Muddather.

The victory pushes the Peregrines into eighth place in the QSL standings, crucially giving the side a three point gap away from the relegation zone. After a slow start in the league, Al Sailiya has improved gradually and now has registered back to back wins for the first time this season.

Another team on the rise is Al Arabi who is now putting together a run of games under new Brazilian coach Edison Aguirre. The Dream team came from behind against Al Khor to register a big 2-1 win thanks to Captain Boualem Khoukhi and summer signing Wagner Ribero. Arabi have yet to taste defeat in three QSL games, and are finding their form at the right time ahead of their derby day match up against bitter rivals Al Rayyan.
