Second placed Al Sadd face stern test against Umm Salal
Round eleven of the QSL season will see the match of the week between high-flying Al Sadd and Umm Salal on Monday evening.
The Wolves are heading into tie off the back of a mammoth 5-0 win over Al Rayyan in the Qatar Clasico. Al Sadd is now the only undefeated side in the QSL, and is currently enjoying a three game winning streak.
Head coach Jeslado Ferriera will be targeting another three points to put pressure on the league leaders El Jaish. Umm Salal tends to play defensively in the big games and Al Sadd will be expecting a tough challenge in breaking down the Orange Fortress.
Qatar International captain Hassan Haydoos has been struggling for fitness in recent weeks; however Sadd’s number 10 did start the Qatar Clasico and played for an hour. Expect another start for the tricky winger, who will be charged with adding to his tally of three goals so far this season.
As for the visitors Umm Salal, they head into the tie off the back of a 2-0 defeat to one of the league’s most in-form teams in Al Gharafa. Bülent Uygun’s side have been patchy in recent weeks and have only secured four points from a possible twelve.
Veteran defender Jawad Ahnash will have to be at his best to keep out the attacking threat posed by Al Sadd. The Moroccan born center back has been missing the last few weeks though injury and will have to be at full concentration when his side take on Al Sadd.
It certainly promises to be a lively encounter when Al Sadd takes on Umm Salal in the QSL match of the week for round 11. You can pick up tickets for the match here.
