Yesterday and today the QSL’s Football Development department conducted individual meetings with Head Coaches, Fitness Coaches, Sport Officers and Performance Analyst to discuss last season’s team performances in Al Bidda Tower.

The main purpose of the meeting is to present last season’s findings in an in-depth statistical report which focuses on each team’s performance. The QSL has set all 14 clubs a list of benchmarks for the clubs to aspire to. Executive Director of Competition & Football Development, Mr. Ahmed Al Harmi and Head of Football Development, Mr. Miguel Heitor will run the sessions with the clubs.

The QSL then compares its data against the averages from different leagues in the region as well as international leagues such as the British Premier League, Liga A, Serie A, UEFA Champions League, and AFC Champions League.

The idea or aim is that if the QSL sets targets for the clubs and they meet or surpass them, then in theory the league is doing well and progressing in the right direction.

The QSL Performance Club data and reports are provided by the leagues official partner- Prozone. The QSL is the only league in the world that provides Prozone data to all 14 member clubs, thus creating a level playing field for all involved in Qatar’s top tier of professional football.

Mr. Ahmad Al Harami explained that the benchmarks set for the clubs clearly correlate with who does well in the league and that can be seen in the final standings at the end of the season.

“There is a clear correlation that teams who meet or surpass the benchmarks set by the QSL, tend to do well in the league. The power of this data is self-evident. That is why we speak with the clubs and provide these studies.”

Last season saw Al Sadd, Lekhwiya, El Jaish and Al Ahli doing well in all 17 performance indicators set out by the QSL.
