The 2020-21 season QNB Stars League’s second leg kicked off with Week 12 matches on 2nd and 3rd January, 2021. As many as 17 goals were scored across the six games, of which one ended in a draw.

The results are:

Al Sadd beat Al Kharaitiyat   5-0

Al Sailiya beat Al Rayyan      2-0

Al Ahli beat Al Wakrah 2-0

Al Duhail beat Umm Salal      1-0

Qatar SC drew Al Gharafa    2-2

Al Arabi beat Al Khor  3-0

Al Sadd extended their lead on top to eight points than the second-placed team following their 5-0 victory over Al Kharaitiyat. Rodrigo Tabata and Baghdad Bounedjah shone the most in The Wolves’ big victory with two goals each. Ali Asad was the other scorer.

Al Kharaitiyat remained the basement side with six points.

Reigning champions Al Duhail climbed from third to second place after Al Gharafa played out a 2-2 draw with Qatar SC.

Eduardo Rodriguez (Dudu) scored the only goal for Al Duhail against Umm Salal as The Red Knights moved on to 24 points, while Al Gharafa slipped to third with 23 points.

Qatar SC’s goals were scored by Ahmed Fadel and Youcef Belaili (penalty), while Al Gharafa, after being down by two goals, fought back through goals from Ahmed Al Janehi and Jonathan Kodjia (penalty).

The results saw Qatar SC slip from fourth to fifth position with 20 points, whereas Umm Salal stood 10th with 10 points.

Instead, Al Ahli improved from fifth to fourth place with 22 points following their 2-0 win over Al Wakrah, with Nabil El Zhar and Hazem Shehata scoring The Brigadiers’ goals.

Al Wakrah slipped from seventh to ninth position with 13 points.

Last season’s runners-up Al Rayyan suffered another setback by losing 0-2 to Al Sailiya. An own goal by Al Rayyan’s Shojae Khalilzadeh and a slick penalty conversion by Tiago Bezerra powered The Peregrines to their fourth win of the season.

Despite the result, Al Rayyan and Al Sailiya stood sixth and eighth with 16 and 15 points respectively.

Al Arabi continued their good run as they blanked Al Khor 3-0, with Mehrdad Mohammadi, Mehdi Torabi and Abdulrahman Anad scoring the goals.

The Dream Team thus put behind their disappointments in the first leg and began the tournament’s second leg on a strong note by completing a hat-trick of victories. In the process, they improved from ninth to seventh spot with 15 points, while Al Khor remained 11th with seven points.

The excitement is sure to continue in the QNB Stars League’s Week 13 matches, to be held on 7th and 8th January, 2021, with two games on each day. The fixtures are:
