QSL online caught up with some of the winners of the QFA awards on Saturday evening, which was held the QNCC to get their thoughts on winning award and a look back at last season.
Al Rayyan’s talismanic captain Rodrigo Tabata walked away with two awards this term having shared the Mansour Muftah top scorer award and picked up the prestigious QSL player of the year award. “I have to thank God for these great awards, but I have to also thank my teammates, trainers and officials and management at Al Rayyan. Without them, this would not have happened. Whilst the fans have been so supportive this year I promise to be back next year and to try hard for the team.”
Whilst Al Rayyan head coach Jorge Fossati, who picked up the Coach of the year for the third time of his career was quick to thank everyone associated with Al Rayyan. “Football is a team sport, and not one individual can achive it on his own. At Al Rayyan we have a great team of trainers and administration staff who support the team very well. This award is for them as much as it is for me.”
Qatar U23 star Abdulkarim Hasan picked up his second ever best U23 player title after enjoying a strong season both for Al Rayyan and the Qatar national team. “Winning this award is a huge motivation for me in wanting to achive more in football, this will push me on next season. I would also like to thank my team mates at Al Sadd who have helped me develop so much over the last few years.”
Abdulrazak Hamdullah was also overjoyed at sharing the Mansor Muftah award for being the top scorer in the QSL in his debut season. “ I am so happy to receive this great award. Especially in my first season with El Jaish, special thanks has to go to my team-mates who helped me settle in Qatar so quickly. Being nominated for the player of the year award is also a huge honor for me, and now the domestic season is over I will be focusing on winning more awards come the end of next season with El Jaish.”
Now with the QFA awards over it marks the end of the domestic season in Qatar, teams will now begin to prepare for the upcoming QSL 2016/2017 season which kicks off on Thursday the 15th of September.
