QFA Awards Preview- Player of the year.
The Qatar Football Awards are set to bring an end to the domestic football season on Saturday the 21st of May, QSL online has decided to look at the nominees for the three key awards. Today we are looking at the prestigious player of the year award, with all three nominees enjoying superb seasons in the QSL.
First up is Al Rayyan captain Rodrigo Tabata. The number ten has enjoyed perhaps enjoyed his finest ever season with the Lions, notching twenty one goals in just twenty four QSL matches. Aside from scoring goals Tabata also registered ten assists for his teammates as Al Rayyan swept to their first ever QSL falcon shield in twenty one years.
The 35 year old attacker led by example for his side this term and bagged fourteen goals in the first half of the season, including a four goal haul as Rayyan defeated Qatar SC by a record margin. Tabata was unplayable at times this term and often pulled Rayyan from the jaws of defeat with vital late goals.
El Jaish’s Moroccan star Abderrazak Hamdallah has enjoyed a fine maiden season in the QSL. The attacker was recruited in the summer to much fanfare, and has so far delivered for the Soldiers.
This term Hamdallah has grabbed twenty one goals, and will be sharing the prestigious Mansour Muftah award with Rodrigo Tabata. Elsewhere and Hamdallah grabbed the vital winner in the Qatar Cup final meaning El Jaish lifted the prestigious title for only the second time in their history.
Qatar international Meshal Abdullah has been nominated for his goal scoring feats and dominant performances with Al Ahli, as the Brigadiers surged to a sixth place finish in the QSL.
Abdullah grabbed eighteen goals in total and contributed to a five game winning streak at the end of the season of Al Ahli. Personally, Al Ahli’s captain also broke the 100 QSL goa mark in March of this year scoring in Ahli’s 3-1 win over local rivals Al Arabi.
The three players will now have to wait till Saturday evening to discover who will be crowned the player of the year at the QFA awards.
