The QSL Online caught up with Qatar Sports Club midfielder Omar Al Emadi, who spoke mainly about their forthcoming QNB Stars League match against Al Sadd on Sunday, their relatively-good start to the league campaign after earning promotion and his former team Al Arabi.

“We’re taking the Al Sadd match very seriously as they’re a tough side with many outstanding players. We had put up good performances in the first two games, against Al Duhail and Al Markhiya, and we must reproduce that while matching wits with Al Sadd,” said Omar.

Qatar SC are currently seventh in the standings with three points and Omar said they could have displayed a better showing.

“The team started the league campaign in a good manner. After losing to Al Duhail, we came back strongly to beat Al Markhiya. Even though we lost to Al Arabi in the last round, we’re satisfied overall,” he said, adding they had a tough task ahead.

About his goals with Qatar SC, Omar said, “I place the team’s cause above mine. My ambition is to help the side fare well given that we were in Second Division last season. The season is long. We’ve to be realistic and take it step by step. We’ll do everything possible to achieve our goal of a strong finish.”

Asked about his transfer from Al Arabi to Qatar SC, he said, “Al Arabi always remain my home. But being a professional, I had to make a move and I wish them all the best.”

Omar reflected on this season’s league competition.

“The competition is stronger than before due to the fact that the teams are close in terms of the technical level and the results so far indicate that,” he said.

The player gave his take on the team’s Argentinian coach Gabriel Calderon.

“He’s a coach with huge experience. He’s a strict disciplinarian on and off  the field. I believe such coaches will bring the best out of players,” he added.

Omar signed off by greeting the Qatar SC fans.

“You’ll see a better team in the coming matches. We’ll give you a lot of reasons to cheer,” he concluded.
