The Qatar Cup Trophy Tour will start on Sunday, 15th April. It will visit various places such as Hamad Port, Hamad Medical City, Aspire Park and sponsor sites.
Star players from the competing teams are expected to join the tour.
The semifinals will be played on 21st and 22nd April, and final on 27th April. All matches will kick off at the Al Sadd Stadium at 19:00.
Al Sadd will play Al Rayyan in the first semifinal, followed by the encounter between Al Duhail and Al Gharafa.
The trophy, which has a weight of 5.5kg and height of 50cm, was designed by Qataris. National identity was the idea behind the theme.
The tournament, featuring the top four sides in the league competition, is held in high esteem by teams, players, fans and officials alike. Therefore, it is quite befitting that the trophy, made of gold and sapphire, has an appealing shape and a creative design.
Ahead of the tournament, the Qatar Cup trophy embarks on a promotional tour across the country to build up excitement. The stops include schools, malls, key sponsors and tourist attractions. People take photos with the trophy as they get up and close with it.
The Trophy Tour aims to celebrate the tournament while also encouraging fans to come along to the two semifinals and showpiece final. It is also the best opportunity for the general public to find out more about the Qatar Cup and the competition.
Qatar Stars League Community Relations Officer Nasser Al Kuwari said, “We aim to introduce the fans to the tournament and encourage them to buying tickets and come to watch the matches. In addition, the promotional tours are an opportunity to explain more details of the tournament.”
