Al Khor take on Al Wakrah in round ten of the Qatar Stars league. This is a must-win match for both teams who are contenders for the drop come the end of the season. The match will take place at the Al Khor Stadium on Wednesday.

After a good start to the season, Al Khor are struggling for form as they lost their last three matches. The Knights are in tenth place just above the drop zone and will be looking to get the win against Al Wakrah.

Jean Fernandez, the head coach of Al Khor wants to get back to winning ways against Al Wakrah, “We lost the last match by 1-0 against Al Sadd. It was a disappointing result and we want to bounce back against Al Wakrah.”

Speaking about Al Wakrah’s form, Fernadez added, “The match is very important and they might make a reaction against us after three draws. We have some absences but we have a group of 14 to 15 players who play every week so we will compensate for that.”

“This time we had less time to prepare. Even though time is a short, the team is ready for the game,” added the French tactician at the press conference on Tuesday.

Al Wakrah have yet to register a win this season and currently sitting at the bottom of the QSL standings. The Blue Waves need to win this game and much more in order to stay in the league.

Kais Yâakoubi, the head coach of Al Wakrah believes that this is a very difficult part of the season for his team, “Everything is very hard right now. Every three or four days we have a match and it makes things difficult. It will be a tough game against Al Khor they showed good performance against Al Sadd and they have good strikers like Madison and Iajour. We hope this match will be an opportunity to get the three points and to continue from there. We are moving slowly but taking important steps.”

“We wont make more changes and we will try to keep the same team that played against Al Arabi. We played well in the last ten minutes and opening ten minutes. We had some trouble in the last matches to keep the result in our favor. I hope after leading we keep the lead. I hope players good luck in scoring and keeping it. I support Maher Yousef even when some people are criticising him for missing chances,” added the Tunisian head coach at the press conference on Tuesday.

Speaking about the upcoming game, Yakoubi added, “Sometimes I’m asking myself when are we going to win. The match against Al Khor is open to all probabilities, maybe in terms of players they are better but on a collective level, we are equal. And if we win we will make a good push ahead for the rest of the season.”
