Al Wakrah coach Poya Asbaghi spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 19 match against Al Sadd.
“Preparations were somewhat different due to the international break, especially since half the team was performing their duties with their various national teams, while the other half was training very well here.
“The team is now fully formed, so we tried to use the last two days to prepare well and focus on the things we need to do in preparation for the Al Sadd match.
“Our main goal now is to improve our position in the league table. I believe we have four matches remaining and of course we need to collect the necessary number of points.
“We also need to continue to develop as a team. If we look at our performance in the league over the past few matches, we will find that we are improving from one match to the next. To face a team like Al Sadd, we need to play our best game of the season to secure the three points,” said Asbaghi.
Al Wakrah player Nabil Erfan said, “We have no choice but to seek victory. We have four matches remaining in the league, and our current situation is not the best. Therefore, our goal is to collect as many points as possible from these four matches and treat each match as if it were a final.”
