Al Wakrah coach Ali Rahma Al Marri spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 10 match against Al Gharafa.
“All players are fully prepared to participate and Lucas Mendes may be the only exception so far due to the physical pressure after his recent participation with the national team.
“There are many positive things for the Al Wakrah team during the league’s break, including of course playing two strong matches in QSL Cup, during which we included most of the players except for the six international players, and we tried to find the required balance in the number of playing minutes for each player.
“Despite the big differences in competition in the league and QSL Cup, we tried to exploit this tournament in order to prepare well for the resumption of the league and I hope we succeeded in that because any coach is in dire need of keeping his players at the highest possible level of readiness in all physical and technical aspects.
“The players made the maximum possible efforts during the break in order to prepare well and I am confident in their ability to appear in the best possible way during the upcoming period, starting with the difficult and strong match against Al Gharafa. We seek to achieve victory and collect the three points,” said Al Marri.
Al Wakrah player Tamim Al Muhaiza said, “This importance is due to the desire of each team to occupy an advanced position in the league table and Al Gharafa currently occupy the fourth place.
“The level of Al Wakrah team has been clearly increasing in the recent period and we, as players, will try to make the maximum possible efforts to implement the coach’s instructions.
“We benefited greatly from the international break and played two strong matches in QSL Cup. And we benefited in terms of result or technical and physical performance, and are fully prepared for the league matches.”
