Al Rayyan will meet Al Shahania in the opening match in Week 4 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium of Al Rayyan club on Friday, September 13, 2024. The kick-off is at 6pm.

The match is quite important for both teams and either sides would go into it seeking to provide their best in order to achieve a victory and gain the three valuable points.

Al Rayyan will look to iron out flaws that appeared in the second and third rounds, where they lost to Al Duhail and Al Gharafa respectively and which also saw their points tally stuck at three to be in eighth place in the rankings with a sole 3-1 win in the first week against Umm Salal.

On the other hand, Al Shahania have two points to their credit from as many draws, against Al Arabi and Al Khor. They suffered a loss against Al Wakrah and the team would therefore be aiming for their maiden win of the season in the league championship.

Both Al Rayyan and Al Shahania faced off recently in the first round of QSL Cup, where the former won 1-0. This match will also serve as an opportunity for Al Shahania to make up for the loss, while at the same time Al Rayyan would look to maintain their superiority over the rivals despite the difference in competition of QSL Cup and league championship.

Al Rayyan’s Swedish coach Poya Asbaghi will try to rely on the team's in-form players to get back to winning ways in the league after the defeats in the past two weeks. A good show will also ready Al Rayyan for their opening match against Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in the AFC Champions League Elite.

It would undoubtedly be a tough test for Al Shahania, but their Spanish coach Alvaro Mejia will ensure that the team puts up its best and score the season’s first win. Al Shahania also have top quality players capable of achieving a positive result in this exciting contest.
