Al Markhiya face Muaither in Week 14 of the 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League at the Grand Hamad Stadium of Al Arabi club on Saturday, February 24, 2024. The kick-off is 8pm.

The positions of both teams seem remarkably alike when considering their standings. Al Markhiya currently occupy the 12th and final spot, having accumulated four points from a single victory, a draw and 10 defeats. The team has managed to score a mere six goals, while conceding a staggering 36 goals.

On the other hand, Muaither are in 11th place with six points, from one victory, three draws and eight defeats. They scored 19 goals and conceded 34 goals.

The result of the reversed fixture ended, with Muaither winning 5-2 in Week 3.

It is anticipated that both teams will primarily focus on their offensive strategies due to the presence of exceptional players in their forward lines and the closely-matched level between them. This will result in an intense game as each team is determined to secure victory and earn three points.

Al Markhiya succeeded in strengthening their ranks during the transfer period by including Iraqi midfielder Bashar Resan from Qatar SC on loan until the end of season and Portuguese defender Ruben Semedo from Al Duhail in addition to attracting players Mohammed Khaled Al Nuaimi, Abdullah Haroun and Abdulrahman Mohammed from Al Duhail, and Ali Jassemi from Al Rayyan. Goalkeeper Omar Barry was also contracted.

Muaither have also enlisted several notable players to bolster their squad for the remaining season.

They included Jordanian international defender Yazan Al Arab from Iraq’s Al Shorta, Brazilian professional Thiago Di Luanco from the Emirati club Khor Fakkan, Moataz Bostami from Qatar SC and goalkeeper Claude Amine from Al Gharafa on loan until the end of season.
