Al Gharafa and Al Ahli will engage in a strong confrontation in Week 14 of the 2023-2024 Expo Stars League at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium of Al Gharafa club on Saturday, February 24, 2024. The kick-off is at 8pm.

Both teams are eager to secure a win and gather the three points, aiming for a robust beginning towards accomplishing their objectives, following the resumption of competition after the Asian Cup break.

Al Gharafa currently hold the third position in the table based on goal difference compared to second-placed Al Wakrah, with both teams having accumulated 27 points.

The team is determined to secure their ninth victory of the season against Al Ahli, aiming to advance in the table and remain competitive in the title race.

Al Ahli, on the other hand, want to advance to the safety zone as they currently occupy ninth place with 12 points.

Al Ahli succeeded in strengthening their ranks during the break, with Uruguayan defender Ramon Arias coming from Muaither.

The Brigadiers, under Pedro Miguel, rely heavily on their stars who have shone in the recent period, perhaps the most prominent of whom is Oumar Sekou, who won the league’s Best Under-23 Player Award for the month of December, in addition to talented Jordanian professional and striker Yazan Al Naimat, who excelled in the recent Asian Cup, and steered his country’s national team to the final for the first time in the history of Jordanian football.

The team prepared well for the resumption of the league by participating in many strong friendly matches, the most notable of which was against Sepahan of Iran. They concluded the campaign with a victory over Al Wakrah.

On the other hand, The Cheetahs go into the game with great morale of the team’s brilliance in the last matches in the league championship.

Al Gharafa boast a distinguished roster of top players, spearheaded by experienced Algerian Yacine Brahimi, the joint top scorer in the league alongside Akram Afif. Both have scored 14 goals. Additionally, the team includes Ahmed Alaaeldin, Homam Al Ameen, Ferjani Sassi and Ahmed Al Janahi.

Al Gharafa played six friendlies during the break. They lost 0-1 to Al Khor, beat Al Sailiya 3-2, lost 1-2 to Al Shamal, played out a 2-2 draw with Al Arabi and lost 1-2 to Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia.

The team had a camp at the Hilton Salwa Hotel from February 5 to 11. In their final friendly, they beat Umm Salal 3-0.

Al Gharafa re-registered Serbian player Lyanco after he recovered from his injury  as a replacement for Ivorian Yohan Boli, who moved to Qatar SC until the end of season.
