Umm Salal continued their winning run by beating Qatar SC 3-0 in Round 2 (Group A) of the 2023-2024 season Ooredoo Cup at the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium of Al Wakrah club on Sunday.

Umm Salal moved on to six points from two victories and top the group standings on goal difference over Al Arabi, who have the same number of points following their 2-0 victory over Al Wakrah in simultaneous kick-off on the night.

Qatar SC remained on three points from their 2-1 victory over Al Ahli in the first round.

After a barren first half, Umm Salal scored their goals through Andy Delort (70th minute), Khaled Walid (81st minute) and Oussama Tannane (89th minute).

Qatar SC pressed hard from the start, taking advantage of their advantage in the midfield. On the other hand, Umm Salal sought to surprise their opponents by accelerating the pace of play and by attacking through the flanks.

However, both teams failed to find a breakthrough in the first half.

In the second half, both teams pressed hard in search of a goal.

Coaches Yousef Al Noobi of Qatar SC and Patrice Carteron of Umm Salal made a number of changes to up the ante and brought in fresh legs.

Umm Salal succeeded in opening the scoring through Delort, whose powerful long-ranger beat Qatar SC goalkeeper Motasem Al Bustami to his left.

Umm Salal kept attacking and found their second goal through Khaled Walid off a cross from the left by Kenji Gorre.

And Tannane made it 3-0 towards the end off an assist by Gorre to seal the issue in favour of Umm Salal.
