Al Shamal and Al Rayyan will meet in Week 3 of the 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League at the Al Bayt Stadium on Saturday, September 2, 2023. The kick-off is at 8.15pm.

Al Rayyan have had a strong start to the season having achieved two wins in the first two matches, defeating Al Markhiya and then Qatar SC with the same scoreline of 1-0.

Similarly, Al Shamal, under the guidance of coach Poya Asbaghi, have exhibited impressive levels of performance, earning two points in the first two rounds. They drew 1-1 with Al Arabi in the first round before holding Al Wakrah to a 2-2 draw in the second round.

Asbaghi has effectively demonstrated his team’s prowess in both defence and attack, relying on a group of exceptional players, including Ali Olwan and Matias Nani.

Al Rayyan, on the other hand, are relying on the support of their fans to bolster the team’s performance and maintain their position in the competition.

With two victories and six points, Al Rayyan are on level with Al Sadd and holders Al Duhail on points, and have delivered an outstanding performance thus far.

Several players have distinguished themselves in the team’s past two matches, including goalkeeper Fahad Younes, Bassam Al Rawi, Roger Guedes, Abdulaziz Hatem and Gabriel Pereira.

Sofiane Boufal and Rodrigo Moreno will be absent from the team in the coming weeks due to injury, according to Al Rayyan club.
