Al Wakrah face Al Shamal in Week 2 of the 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League on Sunday, August 27, 2023. The kick-off is at 8.30pm at the Al Janoub Stadium.

The Blue Wave, who made a resounding start to their league campaign with a 3-0 win over Muaither, suffered a reversal (0-1) in the AFC Champions League play-off against Uzbek club Navbahor, but gained from a top-level international contest.

Al Wakrah lead the championship with three points, on goal difference from defending champions Al Duhail, Al Sadd and Al Rayyan, who all have the same number of points.

In contrast, Al Shamal scored an exciting 1-1 draw against Al Arabi in the opening round, getting the equalizer in added time of second half.

The squad of each team includes top players in both attack and defence. The respective coaches will also certainly push the players to gain victory and momentum.

Al Wakrah would be keen to shrug off their AFC Champions League exit and make a winning return in the Expo Stars League.

Al Shamal would, however, challenge them hard, hoping to achieve their first win of the new season.
