Adel Khamis .. The Brown Gazelle
One of the best midfielders in Qatar and Asian football, he was noted for his consistent performance, high technical abilities and decisive passes. Nicknamed ‘The Brown Gazelle’, he represented the national team from 1984 to 2000, playing in various Gulf, regional, Asian and international tournaments, scoring a number of crucial goals.
Winning the Gulf Cup with Al Annabi (Qatar national team) in 1992 in Doha is considered as one of his most prominent achievements. He played a vital role in the tournament, which Qatar won for the first time.
He represented Al Gharafa club in all domestic, Gulf and Asian competitions, winning numerous titles, including the league championship twice, Amir Cup and Arab Club Championship in 1999 in Kuwait.
He also played for Kuwait’s Al Qadsia during the 1997-1998 season before returning to Al Gharafa, where he joined in 1983.
Adel Khamis, born in 1965, is one of the most prominent players of both Al Gharafa and Qatar national team, cementing his place as one of Qatari football legends.
