Al Shamal’s new coach Wesam Rizik spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 14 match against Al Arabi.

“I thank the management of Al Shamal club for its confidence in me and entrusting me with the task of training the team.

“Al Shamal have distinguished players, whether at the level of foreign or local professionals, and the great support that I found from the club management is an incentive for me as a coach, as well as for the players.

“Our goal is to return to the path of victories and we are all confident in the team’s ability to achieve this, God-willing.

“It will certainly be a difficult game against a very good team, as is evident from their good results this season. But at the same time we will try to achieve a positive result.

“There are minor changes in the positions of players. We hope that the new squad will achieve the desired goal and give the required performance,” said Wesam.

Al Shamal player Mohammed El Sayed (Geddo) said, “The preparation for the Al Arabi match was like preparing for any other match in the league.

“Our goal is to achieve a positive result against Al Arabi especially since we stumbled in more than one match during the last rounds.

“Of course, the game against Al Arabi will not be easy in view of the strength of the competitors, who have been doing well of late and have achieved many victories. They are ranked high in the league table.”
