Umm Salal coach Sergio Farias spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 5 match against Al Shamal.

“Facing Al Shamal in the fifth round of the league is important and we will enter the meeting with high concentration and great importance, because we are playing to win and achieve the three points and even achieve our first victory in the competition, which is necessary and important.

“We also experienced a negative result and hence the difficulty and strength of the confrontation, and all teams have their difficulties and advantages, so we have the same precautions that we take against any team in the competition.

“We have players at a distinguished level and we will enter the match with focus and strength in order to win, especially since the team is determined to compensate and achieve victory. We are at the beginning of the competition and with a team that is being rebuilt, it is not an easy task, but it is clear that using the experience and quality of our players, we always try to get the best result. We always try to win, that is what we strive for in Al Shamal.

“Over the past few days, we have worked to fill the gaps, address the negatives and correct errors, and it was a great challenge to improve the team's performance,” said Sergio.

Umm Salal player Atef Muhammad said, “It will be an important match for us and we hope to achieve victory, the first for us in this season’s league competition.

“We came out with a negative result in the last match against Al Gharafa. But this is football and we must take advantage of the enthusiasm and desire of the players to provide the best during the Al Shamal meeting, which the team will enter with focus and desire in order to compensate and give strength so that victory is ours.”
