Al Ahli coach Pedro Miguel spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 10 match against Al Rayyan.

“Our goal is to present the best technical level and achieve victory in the match. We have ambitions and we will play to achieve them.

“Al Rayyan are a big team with their name and technical strength on the field and position in the standings, but that does not mean we will surrender. We also have our capabilities and ambitions and will play to win the match, and it is the legitimate right of every team to compete for points on the field.

“I do not think much about the competing team and focus my thoughts on my team and how it performs on the field. What is important is good performance because it will lead to a good result. I am confident in the abilities of our players and everyone knows what to do in matches in order to achieve victory. We worked for it with the technical staff in the past days and it showed through good performance and distinguished results in the Ooredoo Cup and the team’s league match against Al Markhiya in the last round.

“We need to provide the required level against Al Rayyan and not to look at the technical differences, the ranking table or the quality of the players, especially since the match is in the league and the thinking must be on the points, whether the competitors are Al Rayyan or another club,” said Miguel.

Al Ahli player Oumar Sekou said, “We must perform at a distinguished level against Al Rayyan. As players, we are determined to provide the best physical and technical levels in the match, and our aim will be to play with full concentration in order to achieve the team’s goal, which is to obtain points.

“We focus a lot on improving our level from one match to another. The team’s technical staff will make every effort for the result that satisfies us against Al Rayyan.”
