Al Sadd defeated Al Wakrah 2-1 in Week 22 (final round) of the 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Friday.

Al Sadd’s goals were scored by Boualem Khoukhi (19th minute) and Rodrigo Tabata (79th-minute penalty).

Al Wakrah’s goal was scored by Saleh Saeed Hilabi in the 50th minute.

Newly-crowned champions Al Sadd ended their campaign with 62 points following their 20th victory and with an unbeaten run (the only team in the tournament this season), while Al Wakrah finished in third place with 37 points.

Al Sadd were the best in the first half in terms of ball control and possession, and Khoukhi took The Wolves ahead off a corner kick by Akram Afif.

Both teams intensified their attacks at the beginning of second half and each they had their chances.

Saleh Saeed helped Al Wakrah draw parity before long with a shot from outside the penalty area that hit the foot of defender Pedro Miguel and went into the Al Sadd goal.

As the game wore on, Al Sadd were awarded a penalty kick after Pedro was fouled by Al Wakrah goalkeeper Amir Abdullah and Tabata converted it.

Al Sadd had beaten Al Wakrah 6-0 in the first leg of 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League.
