On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) at Qatar Foundation witnessed the Qatar Football Association (QFA) Awards Ceremony for 2023-2024 season in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Boenain, President of QFA and Qatar Stars League, a number of club presidents, guests, sports personalities, representatives of club companies, technical and administrative staff, coaches, players and representatives of media outlets.

The most prominent stars of the season were honoured at the ceremony with various awards, which were as follows:

HONOURS FOR NATIONAL TEAM

The ceremony witnessed the honouring of Qatar national team by a number of companies and supporters, such as QIIB, Qatar Airways, Ooredoo and Qatar National Bank, for its distinguished achievement of winning the 2023 edition of AFC Asian Cup, for the second time in a row. A number of players representing the team participated in the honoring ceremony, such as Almoez Ali, Meshaal Barshim, Abdulaziz Hatem and Mohammed Waad.

ORDER OF ACHIEVEMENT

The Order of Achievement (highest honours) is awarded by the Board of Trustees of QFA Awards to personalities who make distinguished contributions during their lifetime to the development of football at various levels, such as sports, administrative or technical.

This time, the award went to:

• His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth and one of the most prominent Qatari sports administrative leaders who has achieved great and distinguished successes for Qatar football over the past years at all levels.

• The late national coach Captain Saeed Al Misnad – may God have mercy on him – who left behind a long track record of achievements and participated in the development and successes of Qatar football for clubs and national teams at the national and Asian levels.

FOOTBALL FOR ALL AWARD

This award is given by the QFA Awards Board of Trustees to organisations or individuals making a significant contribution to promote the culture of football in society. Qatar national team fan group Mudaraj Al Anabi won it this season for its exemplary great role in supporting and encouraging the national team.

BEST REFEREES AWARD

The quartet of:

Salman Falahi – Best Referee

Taleb Salem – Best First Assistant Referee

Saoud Ahmed – Best Second Assistant Referee

Khamis Al Marri – Best Video Assistant Referee (VAR)

MANSOUR MUFTAH AWARD (TOP SCORER)

Al Sadd star Akram Afif won the award by scoring 26 goals in the 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League.

BEST UNDER-23 PLAYER AWARD

This award was bagged by Al Arabi’s Jassim Jaber, who received the highest percentage of votes.

BEST COACH AWARD

The award was won by Pedro Martins, the Portuguese coach of Al Gharafa who got the highest percentage of votes ahead of Al Sadd’s Wesam Rizk and Al Rayyan’s Leonardo Jardim.

BEST PLAYER AWARD

The Best Player of the Season award was won by Al Sadd star Akram Afif, who continued his distinguished performance with his team. He received the highest percentage of votes, warding off Algerian star Yacine Brahimi of Al Gharafa and Brazilian star Roger Guedes of Al Rayyan.

The Board of Trustees of QFA Awards congratulated all winners, and thanked and appreciated all those who attended the season’s closing ceremony.
