Al Shahania coach Jose Murcia spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 14 match against Al Wakrah.

“It is a great feeling to return to the family again, returning to Al Shahania is something that encourages me, and we will continue to work to achieve our goal this season, which is to stay in the top flight. I am excited to lead the coach in the upcoming match against Al Wakrah, the big club that I previously coached and is constantly developing. We achieved victory over Al Khor in the last match and I am excited to win over Al Wakrah to get closer to our goal.

“I will follow the same approach of former coach Alvaro Mejia, especially in this match, and will work to get the three points, stressing his great confidence in the players,: said Murcia.

Al Shahania player Mohammed Ismail said, “The departure of coach Alvaro Mejia affected us a bit, especially after he achieved promotion to the Ooredoo Stars League, in addition to a number of positive results, but we do not have much time and we have a new coach who is not a stranger to the team or the league, and we will work with him, and we will work to implement his instructions to follow the same approach.

“So far, we have not achieved our goal, which is to remain in the league, and the atmosphere is positive and the future is better, and we promise the fans that we will give everything we have during the match, and continue at the same level. As for previous coach Alvaro, I wish him success and thank him for what he provided to us and what he provided to me personally, and we had a wonderful atmosphere with him.”
