Al Rayyan coach Arthur Jorge spoke to the media ahead of their 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League Week 8 match against Al Wakrah.

“We are happy that the league is back after a long hiatus and we are happy to be playing in the most important tournament for us. We will face Al Wakrah with full focus and will do our best to achieve victory.

“We are in a good position because we have prepared for more than one match. We know how important it is to face them despite the different opponents, but now our focus is solely on facing Al Wakrah, as it is the most important match for us at the moment.

“We play all tournaments the same way. We respect all tournaments we participate in. In the QSL Cup, we could have fielded players from the Under-23 team or the Under-19 team, but we are here to do our job and play all tournaments with the same seriousness and approach. That is why we played the QSL Cup matches during the international break with the same players from the first team because we have a great group of players who love competition.

“Of course, I would have preferred to play against Al Shahania after the international break because we had prepared for the match throughout the previous period. We have to accept such changes in the tournament schedule,” said Arthur Jorge.

Al Rayyan player Ameed Mahajneh said, “Al Wakrah match will be important for the team. I returned from injury after an absence of two months and now I am better after a wonderful preparation period. At the moment, we have a large number of matches and we have the Al Wakrah match, which is very important. We will play it to win the three points.”
