Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 6 match against Al Sailiya.

“The team has prepared well during the break and the players who did not play in the Ooredoo Cup underwent intensive training, so all players are ready for the match.

“We were keen to give the opportunity during the cup matches to players who do not participate regularly with the team and this is a good thing for these players to develop, so we can rely on them when needed.

“Al Sailiya are a good team and they have a distinguished and smart coach in Sami Trabelsi. The matches against them are always difficult for all teams. Although they lost Al Duhail by a 0-5 margin, they played a strong match in the first half. The same thing happened in the Al Sadd match as well.

“Our players must do their maximum to achieve a positive result from this match in order to come out with victory and the three points to continue the good performances being put up by the team since the beginning of the league.” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Abdullah Muftah said, “The opponents have organized defence and offence, but we will try to implement the coach’s instructions in order to achieve the three points.

“There is harmony among the players on the defensive front and the team will perform well in the upcoming matches and we still have our best to offer.

“The top-four finish is our target and all players are trying to give off their best to make Al Wakrah fans happy.”
