Al Wakrah escaped with a 1-0 win over Al Shahania - who missed a late penalty, in their Week 3 match of the 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Khalifa International Stadium on Friday.

It was The Blue Wave’s second win of the league championship and took their tally to 7 points while Al Shahania remain on 1 point.
 

Al Shahania’s big hopes of finding the equalizer were dashed in the 76th minute as Dutchman Pelle van Amersfoort kicked wide and high over the target. The spot kick was awarded following a VAR check after Moaz Tawhed Elwadia was checked by rival defenders on the edge of the box.

Earlier (68th minute) El Amin Zahzouh had successfully scored from the spot for Al Wakrah to go up the lead. The penalty was gained after the Moroccan professional was dribbling his way inside the box and was wrongly tackled and felled by Al Shahania’s Daoud Soliman.

El Amine Zouhzouh was named Player of The Match.
