Al Duhail face Al Markhiya in Round 1, Group B of 2022-2023 season Ooredoo Cup on Tuesday, 20th September. The kick-off is at 17:55 at the Al Gharafa Stadium.

Al Arabi, Al Shamal, Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan are the other teams in Group B.

Group A has Al Sadd, Al Sailiya, Al Wakrah, Umm Salal, Al Ahli and Qatar SC.

Both teams seek victory and move towards achieving good results and garnering maximum possible points in order to advance to the knockout stage.

The match assumes significance as both Al Duhail and Al Markhiya are doing well in the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League, where the former are placed third with 14 points and the latter eighth with eight points. Al Markhiya’s performance is creditable given that they are the promoted team.

Al Markhiya, under the technical leadership of Abdullah Mubarak, will seek to do well in the Ooredoo Cup as well.

On the other hand, Al Duhail, guided by Argentinian Hernan Crespo, will work hard to win the first three points as well as achieve technical benefit from the tournament although they would miss their top stars who are with the Qatar national team.

It may be noted that the two teams met in Week 4 of this season’s QNB Stars League and the match ended in a 1-0 win for Al Duhail, with Nam Tae-Hee scoring the winner.
