Al Arabi face Al Shamal in Round 1, Group B of 2022-2023 season Ooredoo Cup on Tuesday, 20th September. The kick-off is at 20:05 at the Al Gharafa Stadium.

Al Duhail, Al Markhiya, Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan are the other teams in Group B.

Group A has Al Sadd, Al Sailiya, Al Wakrah, Umm Salal, Al Ahli and Qatar SC.

The contest between Al Arabi and Al Shamal is expected to be full of excitement, given the many distinguished names in the line-up of both teams.

Al Arabi and Al Shamal faced off in Week 4 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League on 24th August and the former won 1-0 through a penalty goal scored by their Tunisian star Yousef Msakni.

Al Arabi were strongly challenged by Al Shamal in that match and were almost to lose two points, but for the brilliance of their goalkeeper Mahmoud Abunada, who saved a spot kick taken by Al Shamal’s Yacine Bammou in the final moments of the match.

The coaches, Younes Ali of Al Arabi and Hisham Zahid of Al Shamal, will try to give a number of young players the opportunity to strengthen their ranks to continue the distinguished performances by both teams since the start of the new season.

Al Arabi are topping the 2022-2023 QNB Stars League with 16 points after seven rounds of action. Al Shamal are placed sixth with 10 points.
