Umm Salal's Mahmoud Jaber was adjudged the QNB Stars League’s Best Coach for the month of  September 2017 as per the statistics and figures issued by Statis Company.

During the previous month, which saw the launch of the 2017-18 league season with three rounds  being played, Umm Salal grabbed two wins and one tie. They defeated Al Kharaitiyat 3-1 in Round 1, followed by a goalless tie against Al Gharafa and another victory in Round 3 over Al Ahli by two goals to nil.

Umm Salal collected seven points from three games. They scored five goals and conceded only one. The number of goal-scoring opportunities reached 12 in all games. The team displayed a commendable show during September.

Statis Company looked at a number of figures and statistics for Umm Salal in these matches. The average number of passes reached 420, out of which 337 were successful passes with 250 short passes, 153 forward passes, 75 successful one-touch passes, 16.7 cross passes, 5.3 from the left wing and 11.3 from the right wing per game.

The average number of maneuvers was seven and 52 times of penetrating towards the final third with 32 entries into the penalty areas. There was an average of five shots on goal per match. Average distance covered was 93,230M.

Mahmoud Jaber hopes to lead the team to more achievements in the league. The Egyptian took over the side last season, replacing Turk Bulent Uygun. Before this season began, the team management renewed his contract for another season.
