Al Rayyan's new goalkeeper Khalifa Al-Ammari confirmed that he intends to fight for his place in the side. His comments came at Al Rayyan's preseason training camp in the Netherlands, in a interview for Al Rayyan's website. 

The former Al Shahania stopper insisted he is looking forward to the competiton for places in the side. "I was signed to Al Rayyan at the request of head coach Jorge Fossati, this is a big insentive for me to do well. The club already has three senior goalkeepers in Saud Al Hajiri, Mohammed Jasser & Omar Bari, but I am aiming to be the number one in the squad. This will ignite competion for the position, and only benefit Al Rayyan."

Talking about the challenges on returning to the league, the keeper said; "It will be a challenge for Al Rayyan returning back to the Qatar Stars League, however we have a great squad that should be able to compete in the league."

The interview concluded with the subject of Al Rayyan potentially lifting the Qatar Stars League shield at the end of the season. "Al Rayyan are an ambitious side, who have always been competing for domestic cups and league championships. I think that Al Rayyan can compete for the league title."

Al Rayyan will conclude their preseason training camp in the Netherlands where they will face Ajax Amestrdam B, the Saudi team Al Shabab and fellow QSL side Al Khor. The Qatar Stars League season kicks off on the 11th of September.
