Last weekend at Al Gharafa Sports Club, the QSL GOALZ programme held their 2nd annual end of season festival. Over the 3 days the GOALZ team ran tournaments for three separate age groups in the excellent indoor Al Gharafa Sports Club hall.Year 1 and 2 Festival
Thursday saw the youngest participants play in a fun filled football festival. For this age group the matches were none competitive and the aim for the children was simply to just enjoy playing matches regardless of who won or lost.
At the end of the festival each child was rewarded with a medal and certificate to recognize and celebrate their participation.
The following 7 clubs were represented on the day:

· Al Sadd Sports Club – Newton International D-Ring Road
· El Jaish Sports Club – Newton British Academy

· Al Arabi Sports Club – Newton International D-Ring Road
Year 5 and 6 Tournament
Friday was the most competitive day with the oldest age group battling it out to see who would be the final champions of this season.
As expected the day was hotly contested by 10 teams which represented the following QSL clubs:

· Al Sailiya Sports Club - Summit Academy
· Al Sadd Sports Club – Lebanese School Qatar
· Al Wakrah Sports Club – GEMS American Academy

· El Jaish Sports Club – International School of Choueifat
· Lekhwiya Sports Club – International School of London Qatar
· Al Arabi Sports Club – Newton International School D-Ring Road
· Qatar Sports Club – Lebanese School Qatar
A number of important officials were present on Friday to speak with the children and award the winners. The Qatar Stars League was represented by Mr Khalifa Al Haroon, Executive Director of Marketing & Communications. Dr Mahmoon Al Mahmoon from Muaither Sports Club was also in attendance as was Mr. Faisal Al Badar - Supreme Education Council, Mr Jassim Al Qarashi Al Gharafa Sports Club and Ms. Amna Al Qassimi Qatar Women’s Sport Committee.
In order to keep the tournament fun and competitive event throughout the day, the structure of the tournament was set up so that even after the group stages, the teams were then able to qualify into the main cup or the plate competition.

Year 3 and 4 Tournament
Saturday was the final day of the GOALZ end of season tournament and lived up to expectations with some great action on show from the Year 3 and 4 students. Although not as competitive as the Year 5’s competition, the talent was higher than that of the other days with some outstanding team and individual performances throughout.
The day followed the same structure as the Year 5 and 6 competitions and this created a vibrant atmosphere throughout the event which also featured a live dance performance, face painters, nutritional advise, music and live commentary on matches.
