Al Rayyan’s Uruguayan Head Coach Jorge Fossati said in an interview for the club’s official website that the overseas training camp in the Netherlands is going well.

"We have achieved the goals we wanted to; we are monitoring the players' performances. We are satisfied with what we have achieved, and we hope things continue in the same vein when we get back to Doha."

The Uruguayan tactician pointed out that the team’s performance is developing in the right manner since the beginning of the preparation period.

"The team is going through a huge improvement at the moment and the players have reached the second phase of preseason training. Therefore we are sure that the coming period will see even more physical and technical development.”

Commenting on the new season and whether Al Rayyan is capable of competing for the Qatar Stars League title, he said, "Definitely and that's why I am here. Everyone knows that Al Rayyan is a big club and we only aim for big things.”

He added: "There is an important point to mention which is the fact that there will be around 6 to 7 teams competing for the league title this season I think. We shouldn't forget that we came from the second division which will make it even hard for us but I think we are in contention."

He continued, “I will assure you that Al Rayyan will be among the top four teams, that is the big aim of the club. If we win the league title then that would be something incredible."

Commenting on the new transfers, he said: "Al Rayyan signed in a number of high profile players, I am happy with the signing of Sergio Garcia, Ku Myoung, Pascu, Mohamed Jumaa, Khalifah Al Ammari and Sebastian Soria. All these players come from different teams with different levels so they need to gel with the rest of the team."

Commenting on whether the team will sign more players, Fossati said: "We are waiting and hoping to sign Paraguayan Víctor Cáceres."

When asked about who will be leaving the club this season Fossati said, "Of course, some players won't have a chance to play with the first team because the squad consists of only 30 players.  We have more than this number, so some players will be moved to other clubs on loan basis in order for them to participate regularly and gain experience. I believe that this will benefit the team and grant the young players the opportunity to participate and get more playing time.”
