Doha Pest Control will take on Al Asmakh F.M. (08:00) and ALYSJ face defending champions Nakheel (09:30) in the semifinals of the Sixth Workers’ Cup at the Al Duhail Stadium on Friday, 9th March.

In the quarterfinals played on Friday, 2nd March, Doha Pest Control prevailed over Spartan Ready Mix 4-2 on penalties after the regulation time ended 2-2.

Prince Martey and Ebenezer Antwi found the mark for Doha Pest Control in normal time. Later, Samuel Appiah, Francis Quarshie, Dennis and Richard Donkor were on target for the winners in the tie-breaker.

Dennis Ofori and Samuel Obida found the net as Al Asmakh F.M. blanked MedGulf 2-0 despite being on the back foot for long. It was a sharper attack that clinched the issue in Al Asmakh’s favour.

ALYSJ scored an identical 2-0 win over Gulf Contracting. Ali Awudu and Vincent Nortey were the scorers for the winners.

In the other quarterfinal, it was cakewalk for holders Nakheel as they rode on Mohammed Braik’s four-goal effort to notch up a 4-0 victory over G4S Qatar.

That Nakheel did not find it hard even though they were reduced to 10 men after Imad Khairat was sent off as early as the fifth minute showed their domination.

The Al Duhail Stadium is the only venue from the quarterfinal stage onwards. The Al Sadd Stadium had also hosted matches till the Round of 16 (Play-Offs), held on 23rd February.

A total of 32 goals, including penalties, were scored in the first knockout stage  (Play-Offs) of the annual football tournament, organised by the Qatar Stars League and sponsored by Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. It started at the Al Duhail Stadium on Friday, 2nd February.
