Director of Events at the Qatar Stars League (QSL) Mr Hassan Al Kuwari said that the QSL organising body has set some minimum requirements for each and every club marketing officer this season.

This is in order for the clubs to achieve their targets this season, namely attracting more spectators on match days, for which they will receive funding.

Al Kuwari said, "The most important among the requirements is that the clubs hold a number of events on match days which will be entirely organised and run by the clubs themselves. They will have to execute a minimum of two “home” events as well initiating three community agreements, of which two must be with local schools. Each of the agreements requires two activities, one within the school whilst the other should be within the club itself, in total there should be six activities. Also awareness of the club should be increased via social media and promotional activities for the matches, as some spectators complained about not knowing the match dates and times."

The QSL organising body announced that the deadline for receiving the said plans is for Sunday August 16, after which the QSL will meet separately with each marketing officer to discuss his plans and support them as much as possible.

Al Kuwari pointed out that the clubs have received part of their funding already, whilst the rest will be allocated at the end of the first half season, following an assessment of the work carried out by the club.

Al Kuwari said that the printing and distribution of QSL tickets as well as the sales figures is solely the responsibility of each club in addition to the match revenue, while the QSL is only responsible for e-tickets.

Al Kuwari added, "We wish for the largest number of spectators in each and every game. When clubs hold their mandatory two events per season, there should be a minimum of 5000 spectators in those specific match days. Al Ahli has set a great example last season; they even surpassed this target number with over 10,000 spectators."

Al Kuwari also praised the efforts exerted by some clubs during the previous season and said, "There some clubs that did a good job last season, and achieved amazing results such as Al Ahli, Umm Salal, El Jaish, Al Arabi and Qatar Sports Club."
