Jaish defender quietly confident of silverware this season
Yousef Muftah believes that his side will be competing for the QSL title this season and feels that the upcoming QSL match of the week against Al Arabi will be an indicator of El Jaish’s early league form. The soldier’s right back shared his views in an exclusive interview with QSL online ahead of the big match.
“The tie will be a tough contest for both sides. We have won both of our opening games so something will have to give. El Jaish and Al Arabi have players who can win the game for them with a moment of magic, but I believe we can defeat Al Arabi” claimed Muftah.
Muftah has been ever present for Jaish for the last year now, effectively making the right back position his own and the 28-year-old admitted that his side is full of confidence going into the Thursday evening match; “We have won in the AFC Champions League and the first match of the season against Al Wakrah. As a squad we confident in our abilities to win football matches.”
Talk turned to El Jaish’s summer signing Seydou Keita, who has put in two impressive performances in his first games with El Jaish; “He is a true professional and has plenty of experience in football at some of the best clubs. On the pitch he is a real leader and wants to win everything, he can make huge difference for us this season.”
Focusing on the opposition and Muftah believes Al Arabi may have a tough time in coming together as a team so early in the season. “Al Arabi practically has a new team. They have brought in many local and professional players, we have a group who has been together for some time now, and our teamwork will be a major factor if we are to continue with a win.”
Concluding the interview and the defender confidently talked up his sides prospects of picking up some silverware this season; “As ever our ambition is to lift the QSL title. We are taking this game by game, the season is long and we have only just started. We will have to be at full concentration, especially when we play Al Arabi.”
El Jaish take on Al Arabi in the QSL match of the week for round two. The match kicks off on Thursday the 22nd of September KO 20:00pm, at Al Arabi stadium.
