QSL side Al Wakrah presented their new Uruguayan striker Pablo Oliveira to the media and the fans on Wednesday evening. QSL online managed to grab an exclusive interview with the former Leones de Negras attacker to get his thoughts on the new QSL season.

What paved the way for the negotiations between you and AL Wakrah?
I learnt of interest from Al Wakrah though my agent; the club reached out to him and asked if I was interested in joining Al Wakrah.

How were the negotiations?
The negotiations with the club went well, we concluded the contract quickly. I am now fully raring to go to represent Wakrah in the QSL.

Are you aware of the QSL?
Yes, I have watched a few QSL games. Of course Uruguay has a few players in the league, and I have also been following the progress of Al Rayyan and head coach Jorge Fossati with the league getting some coverage in the local media in Uruguay.

Have you spoken with any fellow professionals about joining Al Wakrah?
Yes, before the move I spoke with some old team mates who now play with Sharjah in the UAE Pro League. They advised that I sign with Wakrah and play in the QSL.

What are your ambitions with your new team?
My ambitions are to score lots of goals and push the side on in the league. I would like to stress that moving to Wakrah for me is a major challenge and I am looking to give my best for the club.

Lots of people are relying on you to lead the team in terms of goals this season, what do you think of that?
I know I am replacing a player who was the clubs top scorer and that is lots of pressure on my shoulders. However, I enjoy this challenge and believe that I can contribute in front of goal for Al Wakrah.

You can play as a winger, second striker or target man. Which position do you prefer?
I don’t have a preference, for me I am here to work for the club. I enjoy whatever position I play in.

Do you have a message for the Wakrah fans?
I promise to score plenty of goals this season, and push this club to the next level. I believe that we can achieve great things at Al Wakrah. But we need the support of the fans this season.

Al Wakrah are set to start their QSL season with a tough away assignment at El Jaish on Sunday the 18th of September.
