Al Rayyan can’t afford to drop anymore points according to young defender Alaa
Reigning QSL champions Al Rayyan will be looking to continue that winning feeling when they take on Al Ahli in the QSL match of the week for round six. QSL online caught up with Rayyan right back Mohamed Alaa to get his thoughts on the big game.
Opening up the conversation Alaa stressed that Ahli will be a tough opponent for his side; “Al Ahli will be coming into the tie with a new coach potentially and have been playing well in the league, they will have plenty of motivation to cause an upset against the champions.”
“The win against Al Kharaitiyat was important for us as a team. Now we need to focusing on not dropping any more points, if we are to lift the title again.” Claimed the 22 year old defender when asked about Al Rayyan pushing on to reclaim the title they won last season.
The Lions have not made the best start to their title defense by their high standards and have registered three draws against Umm Salal, Al Sailiya and El Jaish. Despite the dropped points, Alaa is confident his side will be competing to reclaim the QSL falcon shield.
“Looking back on those games, we missed some key players in the squad. Whilst we have only had our new coach for a month now and the squad has had to adapt to his methods. Now we are more confident, and I believe that the results will start to come now.”
Reflecting on the upcoming match Alaa pointed out that his side must take responsibility when taking on a dangerous Al Ahli side. “Al Ahli are a strong side in the league, they have had some positive results this season already. Everyone at Al Rayyan will have to be fully prepared for a real battle on Wednesday.
Concluding the interview, Alaa issued a rallying cry to the Al Rayyan fans to join the club at the game at Al Sadd stadium on Wednesday evening. “We need all the Al Rayyans fans with us to push us on for victory. They had a major role in lifting us to the QSL title last season, and we will need them again if we are to lift the title again.”
