Al Wakrah aiming to improve over international break
Mohammed Al Sulaiti, the deputy head of football at Al Wakrah believes that his side can bounce back after a slow start to the 2016/2017 QSL season. Al Sulaiti had an exclusive chat with QSL online about the progress of the Blue Waves and their aims for the season ahead.
Reflecting on the first two games Al Sulati admits that his side didn’t have the best luck. “Both of the games we lost 2-1 the matches against El Jaish and Al Kharitiyat could have been different if we took the chances. We will be aiming to improve the confidence of the squad moving into the third round.”
Wakrah has been busy in the transfer window brining in strikers Pablo Zeballos and Pablo Olivera, and Sulaiti believes they can make a big impact on the Blue Waves chances this term. “The new signings are doing well, they have each scored a goal now they need to get used to the league. They will be a big asset for us.”
The side from the south of Qatar is considered one of the favorites for relegation, especially now that the QSL will be getting rid of four teams at the end of the season. However Al Sulaiti believes his side are not focusing on that at the moment; “The league season is very long, we have to take match game by game and improve. We have a good coach at Al Wakrah who has done well in getting the best from this side. I have faith he will do the same again this season.”
Concluding the interview Al Sulati suggested that the break in QSL action can only benefit Al Wakrah; “We are now focusing on the next round of games, the squad is in good spirits and excited to get our first win of the season. The international break gives us an opportunity to regroup and improve on our mistakes that is all we can do.”
Al Wakrah will take on Al Ahli in the third round of QSL action on Saturday the 15th of October.
