The 34 year old midfielder talked up the quality of his side heading into the tie; “We have a huge motivation to do well this season. Everyone in the team and management are working hard to reach our goal this season, we are focusing on our own game and paying little attention on what Al Rayyan can do against us.”

“Our preparations are on track and all players are ready to fight for the shirt against Al Rayyan, we have been on a good run in the league and we need to continue on this path, three points will highlight our top four ambitions” added the veteran midfielder when asked about the spirit of the squad going into the game.

Finally, Shammari praised the work done by the club that has led to the upturn in the Cheetahs fortunes during the 2016/2017 season; “We have started well and that is down to everyone in the club working together, the coach has succeeded in renewing the spirit of confidence and self-esteem within the team.”
