
Al Sadd’s Boualem Khoukhi, who was injured during their QNB Stars League Week 21 match against Al Khor which they lost 0-1, is doubtful for their AFC Champions League fifth-round home game against the UAE’s Al Wasl on Monday, 2nd April.
Boualem got injured after colliding with a rival player and was subjected to medical examination.
The team started training under Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira and only nine players attended it as the rest were away due to international commitments.
Those who attended were Ali Asad, Jugurtha Hamron, Xavi Hernandez, Hamed Ismail, Ahmed Sayar, Jehad Mohammed, Yasser Abubakr, Ali Faridoun and Musab Khader. The intensity of training will be increased once all players join the sessions.
The players representing Qatar at the ongoing tri-nation friendly tournament in Iraq, also featuring Syria, include Saad Al Dossari, Hassan Al Haydous, Pedro Miguel, Abdulkarim Hassan, Salem Al Hajri and Akram Afif.
Ahmed Suhail, Bahaa Leithi, Mohammed Waad and Yusuf Abdul Razak are on Olympic team duty for Qatar.
At the same time, Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah and Iranian defender Morteza Mohammed are away due to their country’s international commitments.
Al Sadd are on top of Group C with nine points after four rounds.
