Al Rayyan set up the Emir’s Cup title clash with Al Duhail as they defeated Al Gharafa 3-0 in the second semifinal at the Al Sadd Stadium on Saturday.

Captain Rodrigo Tabata stole the show with a brace in the third and 88th minutes, with striker Sebastian Soria doing the spadework on both occasions.

Koh Myong-Jin scored the other goal in the 47th minute.

The final will be played at the Khalifa International Stadium on 19th May.

Al Rayyan had an upper hand right from the word go and were rewarded with an early advantage when Tabata tapped in a cross from Sebastian Soria.

The Lions continued to have more of the ball, while The Cheetahs, with Dutch star Wesley Sneijder leading the charge, failed to make much inroads.

Tabata, the fifth-best scorer in this season’s QNB Stars League with 15 goals, & Co made up for the injury-forced absence of their top scorer and Moroccan striker Abderrazaq Hamdallah.

The game between Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa, the third and fourth-placed team respectively in the QNB Stars League, was fast-paced.

Al Gharafa came back from the break with more vigour and started creating opportunities, but it was Al Rayyan who found the mark again, through Koh.

Al Rayyan resorted to defensive ways after having a two-goal cushion even as Al Gharafa threw more men into attack.

Al Gharafa’s best chance came in the 69th minute, but goalkeeper Omar Barry blocked Sneijder’s shot from the close range.

After Tabata missed a chance towards the end, he found the mark for a second time after playing a one-two with Soria.

Al Duhail had beaten Al Sadd in the other semifinal on Friday, with striker Almoez Ali scoring the all-important goal.
