Al Markhiya defeated Al Arabi 2-1 in a friendly played as part of preparations ahead of their final-round matches in this season’s QNB Stars League.

Nasser Al Nasr scored for Al Markhiya in the 17th and 39th minutes, while Al Arabi pulled one back when Khalfan Ibrahim converted from the penalty spot in the 71st.

The match was played at the Al Khor Stadium on Saturday.

The friendly came against the backdrop that Al Arabi coach Luka Bonacic was keen his players sustain the momentum and build on their four consecutive victories, while his Al Markhiya counterpart Adel Sellimi looked to end the season on a winning note, especially since they were relegated.

Al Arabi are to play Al Khor and Al Markhiya face Umm Salal in Week 22 of the QNB Stars League on 8th April.

Al Arabi are seventh with 24 points, while Al Markhiya are last on 12 points.
