
QNB Stars League champions Al Duhail and runners-up Al Sadd have been drawn against Iranian sides Persepolis and Esteghlal respectively in the quarterfinals of AFC Champions League.
The draw was made at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday.
The other two quarterfinals are Japan’s Kashima Antlers vs China’s Tianjin Quanjian and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors vs Suwon Samsung Bluewings (both South Korea).
Al Sadd’s first-leg match is scheduled at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran on 27th August. The return game will be in Doha on 17th September.
Al Duhail will host Persepolis on 28th August. The return leg will be played in Tehran on 18th September.
The draw ceremony was attended by club representatives. The Al Duhail delegation included team manager Ismail Ahmed and Media Officer Mohammed Bashir Al Sulaiti, while Al Sadd were represented by Sport Director Mohammed Gholam Al Balooshi and Team Manager Abdullah Al Breik.
Al Duhail are the only team with an all-win record so far in Asia’s premier club competition. In the Round of 16, they defeated Al Ain with an aggregate score of 8-3, whereas Al Sadd progressed by edging Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli 4-3 on aggregate.
