Lekhwiya youth prospect Ahmed Al Saadi is certainly relishing his first full QSL season with the Red Knights and expressed his excitement for the season ahead in an exclusive interview with QSL online.

Al Saadi has been a mainstay in Qatar’s youth teams for a number of years now, and played a major role in the Qatar side that lifted the U19 Asian cup in Myanmar in 2014, along with heading to the U20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015. Most recently Al Saadi helped Qatar to a fourth place finish at the AFC U23 championships which were held last January in Doha.

Despite having an impressive career on the international stage the 20 year old midfielder has yet to make a significant impact at club level. Something that he believes will change at the start of the 2016/2017 QSL season. “I think Lekhwiya showed plenty of faith in me in brining me back from loan last season. I played in a few games for the side and this was important for me and my development.”

With the new season coming up Al Saadi is targeting more game time with the Red Knights. “I am a young player; I have targets to play more games with Lekhwiya. This club is the biggest in Qatar for me. It will be tough, but I believe I can make a name for myself in this team.”

Al Saadi enjoyed his first full preseason with the Red Knights and believes the team spirit is stronger than ever at the Emir Cup winners. “We trained hard during preseason, the team really bonded in Austria. I think that will give us a good chance to lift a trophy this season.”

Lekhwiya may have been quiet in the summer transfer market, signing only Moroccan striker Yuseff El Arabi. Despite the lack of new faces in the squad Al Saadi believes Lekhwiya has plenty of quality. “ I think that the club did well in making sure players like Mohammed Mussa, Yuseff Msakni signed new contacts with Lekhwiya. They are strong players, and the signing of Yuseff El Arabi shows the ambition of Lekhwiya.”

Concluding his interview with QSL online, Al Saad touched on his goals with Lekhwiya this season. “ God willing, we will win trophies at Lekhwiya this season we have a strong side prepared to battle. As for me, I hope that I can be a regular starter and aid in that success.”
